Say hello!

Since this is a brand new team, let's all take a minute to say hi. Please leave a comment below introducing yourself. I'll go first.

I'm Krystal of Solsisters. When I was a kid, my mom made a lot of tied quilts and lots of our clothes. Once she made a pair of underwear for my younger brother that had a blazing sunset right across the bum! So when I got older, of course, I learned to sew, too. I used to make a lot of quilts, although in the last two years, it's been much stronger with handbags. I use a lot of the techniques I used to put into quilts in my bags. They just get finished so much faster and make a wonderful SMALL canvas to try new things on! I love bright colors and unusal patterns. I make up a lot of patterns for my bags and use as much handmade fabric as I can. Every handbag I make is unique, although I do sometimes make multiples of the smaller accessories.

Profession: Graphic Designer
Family: 1 Daughter (age 10), 8 brothers and sisters, wonderful boyfriend, 4 cats
Other Hobbies: Reading, Computer games, blogging

Hi, my name is Mary and I am addicted to bags!! My first real memory of sewing is actually a very horrible experience. My mom decided that she needed to make matching "jumpers/rompers" for me and my older sister (we were about 6 & 8 at the time). It wouldn't have been so bad except that they looked like someone's old drapes that had been discarded. They were worn one time only and then put far away in the back of the draws.
Only when I began sewing did I feel bad because I realized the effort that went into creating these matching rompers. I have paid my mom back in service (new drapes for her home), it all eventually comes around again!
Anyway, I love making all different bags, purses, wallets, wristlets. I work around my busy life with support of my husband and 5 yr old daughter. Very excited about this new team that is getting started!

Hi, I'm Barb and I have been sewing for about 15 years now. I started making halloween costumes and dresses for my girls when they wee little. I slowly progressed to making clothes and vintage dresses for myself and friends.
Last year when my youngest went to school all day, I turned my office into my studio and began sewing full time. I started making handbags because they were easier than dealing with fitting issues. People liked them and I started selling them.
I opened my etsy shop in August and although it has not been very busy, I love it and I know things will pick up eventually!
I am a mom of three girls, married 15 years, and live in eastern PA.

hello my name is chrissy!
I've been sewing purses and totes for about 9 years now. When I was younger my grandmother and aunt's were avid sewers so I think that's how I picked it up. I'm always trying new styles and techniques. I have 4 children ages 9 6 2 & 1 I homeschool the oldest 2 so that leaves only pockets of time here and there for sewing but somehow I do get a few items made during the week! I'm happy to be part of a group of others who share a passion for handmade bags!!

Hi my name is Noella and I am from Riverview, New Brunswick Canada I am a wife for 10 years and am a Mom to an awesome 7 year old boy.

Wow Everyone has "sew" much experience..LOL..I however am a newbie..I have sewn before but not fanatically. I have however done lots and lots of crafting in the past 20 years such as Tole Painting, Crochet, Cross Stitch and for about 7 years now Scrapbooking..I learned so much with scrapbooking on how to coordinate colors, working with patterns and embellishing...so why not apply that knowledge for coordinating fabrics too! I love creating handbags and totes..who doesn't need a handbag...I mean really..

I am learning more and more about sewing each day...wow there is alot to know! I hope that we can all learn from each other..well probably I will mostly learn from you..LOL!

I am super excited to be part of this fab group! I hope all of your wonderful talents rub off on me!

I'm Wendy of Bagsandbuds and I'm so excited to have found this team.

I learned to sew when I was 8 years old on my grandmothers old Singer. We used upholstery samples from a neighbor who was an interior decorator. I've loved sewing and crafting ever since. You name it, I've done it..quilting, sewing, needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery, weaving....the list continues to grow. I majored in art in college with a concentration in textiles. I love fabrics! My Etsy shop is a part-time thing, though I wish it could be full-time-gotta pay the bills. It's been kind of a slow start and I'm hoping my involvement with this team will help boost things and help me to make new connections with people who love to do what I love to do.

I work as a sales administrator for a toy company during the day. I have 2 children in college. Kate is a musical theater senior and Sam is a Recording Arts sophomore. My husband of 25 years an art gallery director. We are all artsy and transplanted Ohioans.
